Small grants (£50-£500) are available to organisations in Malvern Hills District to support residents across the district, by providing free spaces and places for them to go to connect and stay well over the winter period.

Warm and Welcoming Wellbeing Grants

Small grants (£50-£500) are available to organisations in Malvern Hills District to support residents across the district, by providing free spaces and places for them to go to connect and stay well over the winter period.

Grant funding is available as part of the Household Support Fund, to support community organisations across the district, this could be to provide a new service or to develop a current offer over the winter period.

Please note, there is a finite budget available to support projects. When allocating funding, consideration will be given to the following:

  • the amount of time each project is able to open each week. We are particularly keen to support sessions that are open on evenings, weekends and school holidays, and are accessible to families, but we will consider applications for week daytime provision too.
  • we are keen to support provision that includes either hot drinks or food as part of the offer and activities that children of all ages can enjoy.

Organisations can apply for up to £500 to support with:

  • Utility Bills, pay for energy efficient ways to keep the space warm.
  • To open up your community venue more frequently and allow greater access for families.
  • Staff or volunteer costs to open the facility
  • Set up costs and marketing.
  • Purchasing food supplies
  • Purchasing catering equipment to enable you to provide food and refreshments
  • Working with a partner organisation to deliver food
  • Activities suitable for children and families to take part in at no or little cost

For questions/ support with the application form please contact claire.vaughan@malvernhills.gov.uk

Please request a short expression of interest form from Claire, and return this by Friday 24th November 2024.

Grants and Funding

The Parish Council will be setting its budget for the coming year to ensure it has a clear outline of its spending for 24/25, it therefore invites Pensax parish community groups and associations to apply for any grants and donations in line with its updated Grants Policy for 2023.

The policy can be found in the Parish Council Documents

DOMESTIC RECYCLING AND WASTE – Christmas Collection Changes

Speeding Pensax B4202

There have been several complaints about traffic speed through Pensax on the B4202, especially in the 40mph zone.

The police have scarce data about any accidents or incidents and ask that if local residents have any knowledge of these to contact the Safer Neighbourhoods team mt.snt@westmercia.police.uk.

Worcester County Council have recently installed verge-master posts to the road south of the Bell PH and the Police Road Safety Team as installing monitoring devices.

A ‘Green Space’ for Pensax

During the consultation this year on what to do with the funds from the sale of the village hall, ‘green space’ was identified as a key issue.

The parish council is scoping out this issue now and would be keen for the community to be involved in the search and investigation of how and where a community green space for Pensax might work.
If you want to be involved, please contact the Clerk or myself.

Stile Replacement Fund – free for landowners and residents

trash binThe Council also agreed on the budget for an innovative new scheme to improve footpaths around the Parish by helping landowners replace stiles and inaccessible footpaths. Those with mobility issues and older walkers are discouraged from regular exercise and improvements to their well-being by the difficulties they face with stiles, along with those with dogs or pushchairs.

Pensax Parish Council will offer every local landowner the opportunity to replace and upgrade their step stiles to become accessible gates by providing a replacement metal, galvanised, BS5709:2018-compliant gate. Engaged landowners are also offered trailhead waste bins, small signage, and information boards – education for the responsible path user.

signWith the Lengthsman’s help installing these, we hope these gates will open the network for responsible path users.

Pensax parish landowners please contact the Chair@pensaxparish.org

September Litterpick

Thanks to the litter pickers today who enjoyed the sun and heat of early September to remove the rubbish before the hedge-trimming flails spread it far and wide. Once they have been and done their job, we can go back and see all the other stuff hidden under the undergrowth. We were treated by the sights (and smells) of a classic car and motorbike rally, including 1970’s mopeds.

Due to numbers, only the Pensax Road from Porchbrook to Worles Common Road was covered, not Pensax Common or Worles Common this time. The litter was mainly alcohol-related or energy drink cans/bottles, but thankfully not much of either.
