Pensax and Stockton War Memorial for Peace

This was the fruit of David Blakeway-Smith’s persistent work and passionate commitment to having a place – not just a time in the year – where these men could be remembered and where their families could visit.

The memorial itself is a wonderful example of art, not being of predictable design and so making the visitor stop and ponder, as well as pay respects. David is keen that the memorial will be an inspiration for peace in that way.

He managed to involve the children of many schools, both in the research of the stories of the men (copies of the books with these stories are now in Pensax and Stockton churches), and in the service of dedication on June 2nd, when the children added their voices in song.
